The Missouri Writers’ Guild has presented the Walter Williams Major Work Award to Carolyn Mulford, Columbia, for her novel Show Me the Murder. The presentation took place on Saturday, April 12th at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, St. Louis, during the Guild’s 99th annual conference.

Call for Submissions
Word and Image: Prompts for Composing
The Ozarks Chapter of the Missouri Center for the Book (MCB), in conjunction with Moon City Press, is calling for submissions of both writing and illustrations for an MCB-sponsored and NEA-funded book project, to be published by fall 2014 or spring 2015. Cash prizes ($50 first prize, $25 runner-up) will be awarded to “best word” and “best image” submissions in two age groups, under-18 and adult. The under-18 winners will be required to provide proof of age.

The Mercantile Library, MCB Eastern Regional Chapter, and co-sponsor with the National Endowment for the Arts of "The Celebration of the Art of the Printed Book", will host its annual fine print and book fair, May 2, 3 & 4, 2014. Please take the opportunity to mark your calendars early and include a visit to The Mercantile to see more treasures like those in the exhibition that will be touring Missouri this year.
