The Dual Muse: The Writer As Artist, The Artist As Writer, exhibition catalogue, John Benjamins Publishing Company, 1997
With an introduction by Cornelia Homburg and essays by William H. Gass and Johanna Drucker. This catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition and symposium organized by the International Writers Center and the Washington University Gallery of Art held in 1997. The exhibition catalogue illustrates the 67 pieces in the exhibition with 38 color plates and contains essays on the relationship of literary and visual arts.

The Dual Muse: The Writer As Artist, The Artist As Writer, symposium proceedings, John Benjamins Publishing Company, forthcoming 1998
This companion volume to the exhibit volume will contain the proceedings from The Dual Muse symposium with papers by artists and authors Jennifer Bartlett, Breyten Breytenbach, Tom Philips and Derek Walcott.

Promotional materials: The International Writers Center publishes the St. Louis Literary Calendar monthy and the St. Louis Literary Bestiary annually during the summer. In addition, the center publishes a brochure every fall announcing its Reading Series for the coming year. Additional materials are sent out promoting the individual events.
Sponsored events: Every year the International Writers Center presents four or five poets and writers as part of its annual Reading Series. The center also hosts a marathon Bloomsday reading of James Joyce’s Ulysses annually, an international literary conference biennially, and works with university departments and state and regional arts and literary organizations in the community to present other programs.

Mission: The purpose of the Missouri Arts Council is to stimulate and encourage the growth, development, and appreciation of the arts in Missouri through financial and technical assistance to organizations for arts projects that serve the people of the state. All funding for arts projects must be matched at the local level. In this way, the Council reinforces but does not replace local arts initiatives. The Council’s allocations are contingent upon annual appropriations from the Missouri General Assembly and funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Publications: Artlogue, a free, quarterly magazine featuring articles relevant to the field in general and items of specific interest to the Missouri arts community; Guide to Programs, published annually; and various special publications.
Programs/Events: Missouri Arts Awards presented each year by the Council to recognize individuals, arts educators, businesses, and other organizations for their contributions to the arts industry in Missouri. The Council periodically hosts a conference that includes a variety of technical assistance workshops and also sponsors several application-writing workshops each year at locations throughout the state. Other Council-sponsored programs include: Missouri African American Cultural Initiative, Missouri Alliance for Arts Education, Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies, Missouri Folk Arts Program, and Mid-America Arts Alliance.

Mission: Organized as a chapter of the Missouri Writers Guild in January 2002 to assist writers in the St. Charles-Lincoln County area in accomplishing their writing goals. Because of the expansion of the group to the surrounding Missouri counties of Warren and St. Louis and St. Louis City, the chapter changed its name to Saturday Writers. Saturday Writers provides a forum for writers in central-eastern Missouri to network by offering support and by sharing ideas and markets for publication. Saturday Writers strives to assist writers in achieving their publication goals so that they may become members of the Missouri Writers' Guild, our parent organization.

Mission: In 1920, St. Louis Writers Guild was formed by six St. Louis authors, which included Sam Hellman, a Hollywood screenwriter of 36 produced films (some of which were blockbusters), Shirley Seifert, a Putlizer prize nominee, and four prolific fiction writers whose work appeared in popular national magazines of their day. Charles Guenther and Rev. William B. Faherty, both acclaimed Missouri authors, served the Guild for decades. The original intention of the Guild's founders was to provide relief from isolation and professional and social forums for the exchange of ideas and information. As the Guild grew in membership, it offered conferences and contests. In 1935 Tennessee Williams won the Guild's short story contest for his work, "Stella for Star."

Today, the Guild is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission is to support, connect, and promote writers and literary organizations to further the already-rich literary heritage of the Midwestern U.S.. The Guild is a chapter of the Missouri Writers Guild, an organization for professional authors; however, it serves writers of all genres and levels of experience, from beginners to some of the nation's most acclaimed and prolific authors. While most Guild members reside in Missouri, the membership includes writers from throughout the central Midwest region of the U.S.
